SAP Order-to-Cash (O2C), explained by playing it

Order-to-Cash is the heartbeat of SAP Sales & Distribution: it turns a customer's interest into a shipped product and, finally, into cash in the bank. In Playgramma's O2C Basic module you run a small company through one complete cycle — and this is exactly what each step means.

What Order-to-Cash actually is

O2C is the end-to-end sales process. It starts before a customer has even committed — with marketing and a quotation — and ends when their invoice is paid. Along the way it touches sales, the warehouse and finance, so it's the perfect first look at how SAP modules hand work to one another.

The full O2C cycle, step by step

These are the stages you complete in the game, with the real SAP transaction behind each one:

• Marketing campaign — in SAP presales, campaigns and inquiries lead to a Quotation VA21 before any order exists.
• Quotation received — it fixes the material, quantity and price. Accept it to convert it into a Sales Order.
• Sales Order created VA01 — records customer, material, quantity and price against Sales Org 1000 / 10 / 00, after a credit check.
• Outbound Delivery created VL01N — Shipping Point 1000 picks & packs from Storage Location 0001; that stock is now reserved.
• Goods Issue posted movement 601 — the moment the truck leaves, stock leaves your books and ownership passes to the customer (this posts COGS).
• Billing Document created VF01 — invoice type F2 goes out, revenue is booked and the coins are yours. Order-to-Cash complete!

Where production fits in

Sold out of stock? The module lets you make more, so you see how supply feeds the sales cycle:

• Production Order released CO01 — coins pay for materials & labour now; finished goods arrive when the run completes.
• Goods Receipt posted movement 101 — finished goods land in Storage Location 0001, ready to fulfil the next order.
